My experience:
I have worked in the disability sector for over 10 years in a variety of roles including managing SIL’s homes, delivering support services in the community and now as support coordinator for the last 18 months. Prior to moving into disability, I worked in the Youth Homeless support clients into their own homes.
What inspires me to do what I do:
Through my experience the homeless sector I knew I wanted to support people that need additional supports as this led me into working in disability. Over time, I knew that the best impact I could have support people would be through helping access the supports that they need. Often in the homeless people struggle to access what they needed and as a support coordinator I have the chance to help and support participants to achieve their best.
The most rewarding part of my role is…
When participants have a plan that accurately reflects their needs and they have all the supports in place to help them achieve their best.
A fun fact about me:
Prior to moving to Adelaide, I used to play A grade netball for the top team in Port Lincoln … not sure how I would go these days in a netball dress and 60 mins on a court!
